The kids are home and their question to you is, “What are we going to do this summer?” Well, that can be an expensive question. Can’t it? But there are a lot of free things to do in the Tacoma area or the Puget Sound area. In my background here is the bay, and along this water is a four to five mile path and you can bike, scooter, rollerblade, walk, jog, run. Those are all free activities. There’s also a great little playground area for kids to jump on, slide on, swing set, and not far from there is a splash pool. And when it gets nice and warm, water will come out of the ground and kids can splash around in it. Those are all free activities.
Splash Park (Seasonal)*
Open 7 days a week, 12pm to 10pm
Led fountain light show from dusk to 10pm
There’s also some great paid activities around here. Few blocks from here is Point Defiance Park with a zoo and more walking paths, miles and miles that you can bike, a beach with barbecue areas and let kids just unturn rocks and find fun little critters, put their feet in the water, all sorts of fun things to do at Point Defiance Park.
Did you know that it’s the largest park in Washington State? It’s amazing, if you haven’t explored it yet. There’s also Northwest Trek. Look that up. It’s a great little hotspot and a fun activity for kids. You could go to the mountains. There’s hiking, there’s swimming in the bay. There’s all sorts of fun, free activities. So I implore you to start looking up some free activities. I know we got to keep our kiddos busy. There’s lots to do here in the Puget Sound area, and I hope you all have a great spring and summer.
